Our Mission

Empower the community through increased awareness to provide: clarity, care and concern throughout the entire spectrum of living with diabetes.

Diabetes is a rising epidemic throughout the United States. The number of people diagnosed with diabetes has increased almost four-fold in the last 25 years and the number continues to increase at an alarming rate. Central Pennsylvania is no exception  -  diabetes is affecting more and more residents and placing an ever-increasing strain on patients, their families, health care professionals and community services ... but there is hope. There is much people can do to minimize their chances of becoming diabetic and those who are already diabetic have the power to take control of their diabetes and dramatically reduce the risk of complications. People Centre'D On Diabetes (PCOD) is a grassroots organization formed to empower the community - people with diabetes and those not diabetic alike - to address the diabetes epidemic and make central Pennsylvania a healthier place to live. Our activities focus on increasing people's knowledge, on helping them develop healthy and realistic beliefs about diabetes, and on promoting healthy change in behavior of individuals with diabetes, people at risk, their families, friends, neighbors and society in general.
